Here are the first construction photos of the Coral Cove 40.
Step one- bulkheads cut out and ready to be made up. Note that you
can cut out 2 of each at the same time, saving work for the second hull. |
Make sure you do the coating in a sheltered area - much easier if you
are a bachelor ???? |
Basic framework up. Stringers run horizontally and are placed to accept
bunk, floor and bench tops. Bulkheads attach to planking with epoxy fillets.
Butt straps are located so as to be hidden when the hull is completed. |
Note the pod on the inboard side of the hull. This allows much better
interior space than the standard polynesian style hull. |
Stringers, frames and proud builder. |
Covered for bad weather. You can build outdoors, but you need to be
careful with your epoxy, which is UV sensitive until it cures. |
First hull (Port) turned over and set up on stands ready for completion.
Fine profile of design is starting to become clearer. Note all bulkheads
already in place at turnover, and inner pod wall already in place. |
