The Mark I at anchor. Essentially this boat has been built with a full
bridge deck and turret cabin, and so is virtually the same in appearance
to the Mk II., which was drawn to include those features. |
A very well laid out helm position. |
The galley area. Small (it is after all only a 31 ft boat) but very
functional. There is a large galley bench outboard to the right. |
Chart Table area. |
Forward single berth to starboard |
Dinette. Note the all around panoramic views. |
Aft double berth - Starboard. |
Bulkheads being set up on the building jigs. This builder chose to
build two jigs and build the hulls side by side, and together. He will
save a lot of work this way. |
Bulkheads up, stem , keelson and sheer strakes in place. |
Chines on. |
Framing done and ready to start planking. Now she looks like a boat! |
Planking on - this shows the nice clean lines of the stern. Note that
the mini keels are on as well. |
Hull planked - bow view this time. The hulls are long and lean and
very streamlines. This is the outer side of the port hull. |
This is the inner side of the Port hull. Note the inner pods which
are the reason for this boat's superb accommodation. Note also that the
pods are on the outer sides here. When the hulls are rolled the pods will
be inside and facing each other - just a little fore thought goes a long
way. |
Hull shells almost complete |
Hull Shell almost complete - rear view |
Hulls turned and connected, cabins mostly completed - rear view. |
Same again from the front. |
Hulls and brudgedeck structure virtually complete. Note tiller fitting
will be covered with a removeable cap on completed vessel. |
Double berth space in aft port hull. This is a full size double bed.
Starboard hull has a dinette here which can convert to another double berth. |
Port hull looking forward into W.C. space. Cozy, but adequate for the
job, and larger than most cats of this size and style. |
Cockpit area, looking forward to the small cockpit dinette seating
area. Cockpit seats either side at the aft end. Cockpit on the Mk II extends
further back. |
Cockpit half cabin in place. Note# this is not a full bridge deck cabin
- just a half cabin shelter over the forward end of the cockpit. |
Overall affect is very sleek. Note that built in section in front of
turret cabin is non standard. As per plan this is a slatted deck area.Turret
cabin on this boat is correctly built as per plan. |
The turret is very stylish. This style of cabin is used on the Coral
Cove cats and the Waller 1100. It is slightly more fiddly to construct
than a simple box turret but it looks far more professional, very stylish,
and allows for terrific visibility. On the Coral cats it is an open backed
cover only, over the front end of the cockpit area. |
