Finished boat on trailer. She is a very trim little boat
Boat on trailer again. This shows the clean shape of the hull stern quarters.
Note that the rig on this boat is not the designed rig. It is an old second hand rig the owner bought to get the boat on the water. Still, you can see the sleek style of the boat.
Interior view of the TS540.  Note the simple construction and the storage under the cockpit seats
Interior looking forward. Berth is the traditional V - spaces either side of CB case can take in fills for better use of space.
Construction begins by building the backbone, which includes the stem and the centerboard case.
The bulkheads are then fitted to the backbone, and the stem packing added.
As above
Bulkhead and backbone joins are simple filleted joins - no cleats or framing necessary.
The completed framing assembly stands by itself. No building jig is required as long as you have a level building floor.
Sheer strakes and chine timbers are fitted and faired.
Hull framing complete and ready for hull planking This view gives a good appreciation of the fair and easy lines of this vessel
Planking is fitted with square edges, and the small gaps filled with epoxy filler, then faired.
Hull is built using the wood / epoxy method, so all timber is coated in epoxy.

Mike Waller Yacht Design is a business specialising in boat plans for amateur boat builders. We custom design, and provide stock plans for both monohulls and multihulls, mainly catamarans. Other designs are sailing skiffs and sharpies, as well as power catamarans. Our designs mainly feature timber construction, in plywood or cedar strip plank composite construction, using the W.E.S.T. system (wood epoxy saturation technique). Our designs are intended mainly as cruising boats, although several have done well in racing.
