WALLER 880 CATAMARAN - PHOTOS

'Slinky Malinky' making good speed in moderate winds
'Slinky Malinky' again
 Spinnaker up, on a reach.
Spinnaker shot again. Sailing comfortably downwind.
Heading upwind.
The 880 is built in two complete halves, in strip planked cedar. Once complete the two halves are turned and then joined down the middle.
The half shell is now planked and glassed, and is being faired.
Shell complete, hull is now turned and interior bulkheads installed. Note that the double berth in the forward part of the bridgedeck has been turned fore and aft in this boat. There is plenty of room for that option.
Vessel complete and ready to be rigged
Note the huge cockpit - perfect for family sailing.
The outboard motor sits in its own pod below the bridgedeck. Manouverability under power with this arrangement is excellent. 9 hp will suffice.
The vessel has good, useable side decks.
Easy access to the motor by lifting the lid in the cockpit
The 880 viewed from aft. This vessel is fitted with tiller steering at the owners preferance. However, wheel steering may also be fitted as an alternative.
The chart table - something you won't find too often on a 28 ft cat. This allows navigation without disturbing everyone at the dinette table.
Large chart stowage space beneath the chart table.
The dinette area. The dinette is a full double berth size, and so can be used for extra sleeping if needed in emergencies.
A view of the galley area from the dinette area
The galley area again - viewed looking aft from the forward cabin
The W.C. - Bathroom area. There is a large vanity area with basin etc, toilet and room for a shower.

Mike Waller Yacht Design is a business specialising in boat plans for amateur boat builders. We custom design, and provide stock plans for both monohulls and multihulls, mainly catamarans. Other designs are sailing skiffs and sharpies, as well as power catamarans. Our designs mainly feature timber construction, in plywood or cedar strip plank composite construction, using the W.E.S.T. system (wood epoxy saturation technique). Our designs are intended mainly as cruising boats, although several have done well in racing
